Ceramides are lipids that help the outer skin barrier hold water. They appear in many creams for dryness and sensitivity — they are not exfoliating acids.
At a glance
Time: 1 minute · Best time: evening · Age: all ages · Pair with gentle cleanse + SPF by day.
Steps
- Cleanse gently. Leave skin slightly damp.
- Apply a ceramide-containing moisturiser in a thin-to-medium layer.
- If very dry at night, you can seal with a bit more cream on cheeks only.
- Morning: moisturiser if needed, then sunscreen.
Side effects
- Usually well tolerated.
- Any formula can irritate if fragranced or if your barrier is raw — sting means simplify.
- Heavy cream in peak humidity may feel greasy or clog some oily zones — use less on the T-zone.
